In the heart of Bugey, built in 1783, our house is located in the peaceful little village of Rossillon. Ideally situated between Chambéry, Annecy, Bourg-en-Bresse, Lyon, and Geneva, and on the road to Italy, you can enjoy the many nearby activities (hiking, lakes, wine cellars, historical sites, etc.). Like many houses in the village, La Maison Bleue is built with remnants of the 13th-century castle of the Savoy family. You will without a doubt find traces of this history in some of the house’s rooms. Our 2 bedrooms, 2 modern bathrooms, equipped kitchen, private courtyard, spa, and gym offer all the comfort you need for an unforgettable stay. Our guesthouse harmoniously combines elegance and practicality, providing a well-equipped space where every detail is designed for your well-being. Come discover our welcoming retreat, where modern comfort and conviviality meet to create an exceptional hospitality experience.
Welcome to our home! We are David and Stéphane, delighted to welcome you to La Maison Bleue. To get to know us better: David is an actor and theatre mask maker, passionate about history and culture. Stéphane works in retail and loves plants and cooking—so much so that he often prepares a homemade dessert for visitors. Originally from Alsace and Charente-Maritime, we fell in love with Rossillon and hope to share that feeling with you.
CAPITAL OF BUGEY IN THE 14TH CENTURY A picturesque little village located between Chambéry, Annecy, Lyon, and Geneva, Rossillon played a major role in the history of the Savoys. Hard to imagine, but during its time as a châtellenie, this village—now home to just over a hundred residents—was once the capital of Bugey for a long time. Remnants of its grandeur (La Maison Forte, the Church, and the ruins of the castle) are still visible today. THE “LITTLE BARBIZON” Rossillon is one of those villages proud to have been compared to Barbizon, the benchmark for 19th-century painting. Dozens of renowned painters left hundreds of views of Rossillon. Among them, François Louis Français and Adolphe Appian, the discoverers of Rossillon just over 150 years ago, stand out. But most notably, artist-painter Henri Bidauld adopted Rossillon, even becoming its mayor. He brought the greatest artists of his time to the village. Except for Rue du Lavoir, all other streets are named after these painters, making Rossillon a unique place.
