For nature lovers or simply those seeking a quiet moment under the trees, our Nordic tent at La Ramie is pitched under a big beech tree for extra shade, on a 3000-sq meter plot at the edge of the forest. Offering a kitchenette, outdoor hot shower and dry-toilet, the accommodation is conveniently located for hikers, cyclists and nature enthusiasts, at the start of the hiking path leading to the Col du Béal pass and more. The round canvas tent is 4m in diameter, and provides two-single mattresses with sheets and blankets, a chest of drawers, a floor-sitting table for two, battery-powered lights and electrical outlet for phones, laptops, etc. The rustic kitchenette provides an electric stove, a mini-fridge with ice-box and a sink, as well as basic tableware and cooking utensils. A gas-powered portable water-heater and a 300L tank allow regular hot showers. Breakfast is available every morning, with simple and home-made French flavors. Drinking water is provided via a water fountain.

We are a French-Japanese family of four who have settled in this lovely area a few years ago and been enjoying the peace and quiet ever since and would be happy to share with nature-loving guests of all origins. We are both artists and teach Japanese calligraphy classes, and our house next door is filled with books and music. Situated between Ambert and Thiers, an hour's drive from Clermont-Ferrand, the quaint La Ramie hamlet will appeal to nature lovers (hiking, cycling, bird-watching,etc) and those looking to discover the local rural culture, with its traditional crafts (Knives in Thiers, Paper in Ambert) and local culinary specialties. The nearby villages of Marat and Vertolaye provides basic amenities (mini-mart, post-office, bakery, butcher, restaurant, coin laundry) and there are numerous other villages and hamlets within driving, cycling or walking distance, each with churches, chapels, and historical farmhouses.
