Le Cosy – Our Gîte for 2 “Where comfort meets tranquility” Welcome to Le Cosy, our charming gîte for 2 to 3 guests at Domaine du Vertendre. The gîte features a bright living room with seating and dining area, a fully equipped kitchen, and a cozy mezzanine where the double bedroom and bathroom are located. An additional sleeping arrangement can be provided for a third guest. Outside, a private terrace overlooks the garden and the valley — the perfect spot for breakfast in the morning sun or a glass of wine at sunset. There is also a separate barbecue area with a dining table, surrounded by fragrant flowers and herbs, inviting you to cook and dine outdoors as evening gently settles over the garden. Beneath the large walnut tree, two comfortable hanging chairs offer peaceful views over the valley and the grazing Limousin cows — an ideal place to relax, daydream, read a book, or simply let inspiration flow. On the property, you’ll find plenty of opportunities to unwind: badminton, table tennis, and a well-stocked games cabinet provide relaxed moments together. At the swimming pool, open from April 15 to September 30, you can enjoy the sun terrace with loungers or sip a refreshing drink at the pool bar — an idyllic place to soak up the French sun. During your stay, indulge in a delicious breakfast or a refined table d’hôtes, lovingly prepared by your hosts Joost and Ilonka, who cook with passion and create a warm, personal atmosphere. After many years in the Netherlands, where Ilonka ran her own practice as a therapist in Chinese Medicine (acupuncture, herbal medicine, Tuina, Qigong and lifestyle coaching) and Joost worked as a chef in renowned establishments, we felt it was time to live closer to nature — closer to the calm, space and pure flavours that give life its colour. Here, in the heart of the Limousin, we found what we were looking for: simplicity, authenticity and time to enjoy what truly matters. Our passion lies in pure food — honest, seasonal and full of life. Vegetables, fruit, nuts and herbs play a leading role in our kitchen. Much of what we use comes from our own vegetable and herb garden, where everything grows in harmony with nature’s rhythm. The scent of fresh thyme, mint and rosemary naturally finds its way into the kitchen. We don’t cook only vegetarian dishes, as the richness of this region makes the culinary experience here truly special. Ducks and truffles from the Périgord, tender meat from Limousin cattle, cul noir from the Haute-Vienne and the characterful wines of the Corrèze — everything reflects craftsmanship and a love of good food. Vegetarians and food lovers alike feel at home at our table, where Joost cooks with passion and creates long, convivial evenings — sometimes lasting until the final aperitif at the pool bar.
