There is easy parking beside the tree-lined square, less than 20 metres away & beneath the trees are shaded picnic tables- and then the bright lights of Angouleme an easy 30-minute drive away, filled with restaurants & museums or to the south there's Perigueux or Brantome 30 minutes away. In the summer there are evening food markets in different local villages, where you can sit in the evening sun and eat & drink locally produced food & wine.

Hi I'm Jacqueline Golesworthy, a British artist and your host. I have done a fair bit of world travel & I always love places where I can enjoy a space without the blandness & conformity of staying in a hotel, so I have aimed to create welcoming, quirky comfort here, with privacy and the facility to cook if you want, so you can go to the markets, source lovely local delicacies & bring back & cook. I have filled the walls with art & created seating areas to sit back, work, rest or play; it's your own space to come & go as you please. This is a characterful self-contained apartment, set in a lovingly renovated 19th century former hotel, with some great features; an 'arabesque' metal grilled double front door, exposed stone walls, light, bright, private charm, a great kitchen & a modern shower, so you can enjoy a comfortable, relaxing stay. The apartment is easy to find in the middle of the village opposite the Post Office. It's located in a charming little village with a mini supermarket, bar, restaurant, 3 boulangeries, butcher & deli, pizza takeaways, a Tuesday fish & vegetable market, a Sunday evening takeaway van, hairdressers & post office. You can go for walks from the doorstep into the surrounding coutryside or get in your car and visit the picturesque, historic villages or go and swim in the local lakes... indeed, sports and activities in the area are almost too numerous to list, including free tennis courts, kayaking on a range of rivers from the placid Charente to the wilder, clear waters of the Dordogne, fishing, walking, cycling, world-class golf, archery, hot air ballooning from various sites, tree-climbing adventures, prehistoric caves, a wealth of fascinating military history, from the Hundred Year War to the French Resistance, and for wildlife enthusiasts we have everything from the full range of birds of prey to majestic red stags... We are set in a vast National Park, where pristine nature & trees abound - it's a breath of fresh air that I (& my two cats!) have enjoyed for many years away from the stress & traffic of urban life.
