You will be staying in an 18th century stone barn at the edge of a village with wonderful unspoilt views over the valley. It has been renovated to a high standard, to create a comfortable, airy living space. I live in the house adjacent to the barn.
I am a keen gardener and guests are very welcome to enjoy the garden and its produce. I offer my home made organic jam for your breakfast and a selection of teas and coffee. You can make your own herb tea from the plants growing in the garden. I enjoy cycling into the nearby town, Excideuil, on my electric bike. You may borrow it! I am also a writer and the barn has a substantial library which you are welcome to browse.
The barn is set in a really charming Perigordine village with its own restaurant. Close by are the famous prehistoric caves of Lascaux, Font de Gaume and many other historical sites. The chateau at Hautefort is just up the road. Many of the churches and chateaux are host to excellent classical music concerts throughout the summer. Apart from culture, there are two swimming lakes nearby. One has a beach and amusements for the children. Both are set in lovely countryside and have restaurants on site. The local markets offer abundant organic produce and all the typical gourmet delicacies of the region.
