We are Christopher & Ryan, two Californians who settled in France in 2022, after attending university in Paris in 2018. We love to host guests at Le Douet Fleury in Livarot and have years of experience in the entertainment and hospitality industries. We both have diversity in our service skills, working in hotels, restaurants, coffee houses, cleaning service, retail shops, transportation, and theater. We look forward to hosting you during your stay, and are happy to share more about our life experiences.

Our unique property offers two styles of accommodations--a Bed & Breakfast featuring a DOUBLE ROOM WITH BALCONY or a VACATION HOME. The DOUBLE ROOM WITH BALCONY can sleep 4, as bookings of 1 OR 2 GUEST will have one bedroom with an attached bathroom, and bookings of 3 OR 4 GUESTS, will include a second bedroom, with the same bathroom. In the bed & breakfast, daily breakfast of French style petit-déjeuner is included, with guests staying multiple nights given the option a choice of other hot breakfasts for an additional price. As an option, our Table d'Hôtes service allows you to enjoy a hosted 3-course dinner in our dining room at an additional price. The VACATION HOME can sleep 5, and optional breakfast or a homemade prepared dinner can be delivered for you to enjoy in the comfort of your vacation home, for an additional cost. Le Douet Fleury is comprised of three joined buildings, each built in a different era. In 2025, opened our first bed & breakfast room in the dignified manor house located in the village center. Our name comes from the little stream that winds its way through the village and past our ancient lavoir (wash house). The property dates back to the late 1600's when the half-timber farmhouse (now "La Maison du Jardin" vacation home) and workshop outbuilding were built. Just across the stream, a field that is now a municipal campground once served as the horse pasture for travelers, accessing the field along the Impasse aux Chevaux. The manor house, built in the popular style of the 1700's, with grand windows facing the street, was eventually remodeled to offer two shopfronts for local commerce. Access to the bed & breakfast is in the courtyard, taking advantage of the ancient wooden staircase, once used by the house staff. The garden is appointed with furniture for dining and relaxing, and is a shared space.

Most notably, Livarot is a cheese-making village, with the E. Graindorge cheese factory free tour available daily (except Sunday in the off season) to witness the process of making cheese. Cheese and other souvenirs can be purchased in their gift shop. We are also home to the Ecusson cider factory, one of the largest cider producers in Normandy. The village is quite walkable, with 3 boulangeries, 6 restaurants, 3 hair salons, a day spa, antique shops, vintage clothing store, and more. The tourism office is just around the corner, as well as the starting point for a self-guided walking tour of the village and it's history. The village also hosts many festivals throughout the year, notably the Foire aux Fromage every first weekend in August. Other festivals often take place on the first weekend of July and September, as well as hosting multiple bands for Fête de la Musique every summer solstice day.
