Smaller distilleries are common across the region, and one of the best, L’Ecomusee Du Cognac is only 5 minutes from Les Cygnes Noirs. For those looking for something different, Cognac offers other attractions from visits to the Château Royal de Cognac, Eglise Saint-Leger Cognac or why not paddle board on the Charante river. Saintes, sitting on the banks of the Charente, was the Roman capital of the Aquitaine and boasts architectural remains including The Arch of Germanicus, an Amphitheatre and the Baths of Saint Saloine. In the city centre, you will find the Saint-Pierre cathedral and other historical buildings. A climb to the belvedere on the cliff, leaves you overlooking the town and surrounding meadows. On the river itself, you can take any one of many leisure cruises or hire a boat for yourself.
