Our home is an old farmhouse with a very large garden (5 acres). We use the land to keep some livestock, grow fruit and veg. We seek to create a peaceful haven for us and our guests. We have fully renovated the house while keeping it's natural charm and original features when possible.

Tony and Jill moved to France with their 2 children in 2003. They are usually busy people. Tony likes to be outside in the garden whenever possible looking after the livestock, vegetable plot and polytunnel He loves planting new trees and shrubs and recently created a Mediterranean garden with palm trees, an olive tree and a garden bench to sit on while enjoying the sunshine. Jill divides her time between looking after the house and teaching English to business people. She likes cooking, particularly for other people.

Our home is in the countryside about 2 km outside the small village of Estry. While it appears to be quite isolated in fact the nearest small town is less than 10 minutes by car and the town of Vire, which has all necessary amenities, is only 15 minutes away by car. The area is beautiful with rolling hills in the "bocage" and many interesting places to visit. The D-Day landings were only an hour away and in the days following the landings there was a lot of fighting in and around the village. There are many local cemeteries and memorials to visit. The beautiful Swiss Normande region starts only 40 minutes from us and you get to the northern D-Day beaches and the beaches on the West coast in only one hour. The Viaduc de la Souleurve, with the highest bungy jump where you can touch water in the world, is only 20 minutes from Estry and even if you don't want to make the jump or try the zip wire you can sit and watch others while having a picnic in lovely surroundings. Other places to visit include William the Conqueror's caslte in Falaise, the Bayeaux Tapestry, Mont St Michel and the spa town of Bagnoles sur l'Orne. If this isn't enough Paris is only a 2.5 hour train ride away
