Le Moulin is a former mill dating back to the 17th century. It is set in one of the most beautiful tranquil areas of the French countryside and is surrounded by 15 acres of lush green pasture and ancient woodland. The house wraps around a beautiful terrace with a large swimming pool and covered patio area. We can offer a range of cycles for hire, a set of self-guided walks, road bike or cycling routes, bird watching, horse riding or just well-being where you can unwind, relax and enjoy some pampering treatments. This is a truly exceptional property. Breakfast is included and lunch/dinner can be offered at an additionalcost. A two-night stay is the minimum. For 2025 enquire about our special French cooking classes, our craft weeks and painting weeks.

I am passionate about the countryside and rural environment. Le Moulin is the perfect place to escape from the rat race and relax. I enjoy yoga and pilates and walking in the countryside with my dogs. I have a long history of managing top class establishments and in relationship management. I aim to make every visit one where each guest is looked after individually and each and every one of their needs are met (wherever possible!). Many of our guests return year after year.

Le Moulin set in a leafy valley at the end of a quiet country lane so there is no passing traffic... just birdsong. Every walk or cycle ride starts and ends at Le Moulin and the property itself opens up on to the famous green paths of France, so there is no limit to the amount of local exploring you can do. At night there is no artificial light so the skies are open and you can enjoy watching shooting stars, spotting your planets or seeing the Milky Way. The small village of Scille and L'Absie are 5 and 10 minutes drive away, and the area is neatly positioned between the chateaux of the Loire Valley (to the north) and the historical villages of the Dordogne. You are close to La Rochelle on the coast, to the amazing Green Venice of France (Pontevin Marsh) and both Futuroscope and Pay du Fou (voted the best tourist attraction in the world) an hour or so away. There's so much to see, you will never be bored! We are also close to Pathenay for the games.
