Le Vieux Renard is a unique Chambres d’hotes set in sleepy and tranquil north Charente and within the tiny hamlet ‘La Loge’. This new listing consists of a double bedroom (16 square metres) and bathroom (3.6 square metres) which are decorated and furnished to a high standard retaining the authenticity of the French farmhouse. The accommodation consists of a private terrace which is accessed directly from the bedroom and is perfect for relaxation and stargazing leading into a sizeable private garden with a small pond and numerous mature trees. Country walks can be enjoyed directly from the accommodation and cycles available on request. Emphasis is given to pure relaxation with use of luxurious sun bed and lounger. The nearest supermarket is 5 mins by car which is open to 8pm on weekdays with a 24hr petrol station. The stunning villages of Nanteuil en Vallee and Verteuil sur Charente are 8 and 15 minutes drive with Nanteuil being on the famed Camino pilgrimage route. Breakfast is served on the terrace or inside the farmhouse when the weather is unkind. Paul and Lisa look forward to your stay.

We are well versed with the local country walks and history and can provide walking routes to suit your ability. We are animal lovers with three very friendly dogs which are kept separate from the guest area. We strive to provide our guests with a perfect and memorable stay and believe that we have created a very unique Chambres d’hotes.

The immediate area is quintessential to French rural life with minimal traffic set within a tranquil hamlet of La Loge. The property is set on a ‘Chemin/lane’ which is more grass than road and provides direct access to country walks. The beautiful village Nanteuil en Vallee is 8 min by car or a 1 hour walk through local woods and ancient paths (route can be provided). The village is on the Camino pilgrimage trail or simply have a sumptuous piece of cake and coffee at ‘Lollys’. We are happy to pick our guests up in our car to save the walk back. Numerous other villages of note are nearby including Verteuil sur Charente and Tusson. The river Charente offers kayaking at ‘Base Canoe/kayak at Ruffec Rejallant’. Further afield is the sombre Oradour sur Glane (55 mins) and to the south the beautiful towns of Perigueux and Cognac. The Atlantic coast is 2 hrs by car and all its natural beauty.
