Our gite is set in 5 acres of meadow with no near neighbours and is a haven of peace and tranquility, with lovely views over the surrounding country. We live on site, but in a separate house on the opposite side of a large courtyard. We are available at all times to provide any help or information you may require, including welcoming you when you first arrive.

Adrian is English and Shamsiah is Malaysian but has lived in England and France since 1973. We have, and continue to travel widely and so have a good understanding of different cultures and life styles. We love to meet people from all over the world and make new friends. This is the primary motivation welcoming people to our little paradise.. Between us we speak English, French, Malay, and Indonesian. Please note that there is a refundable deposit of 50 euros and a cleaning/laundry charge of 40 euros, both payable in cash on arrival. We also charge for electricity used at cost. This usually amounts to not more that 8 euros in the summer months. The main reason for this charge is environmental considerations.

The Allier 03 is a little known departement in the centre of France. We live in what is known as the Bocage Bourbonnais, an area of rolling countryside, meadows, hedgerows, forests, rivers and lakes. The farming is primarily cattle rearing and sheep, the only cultivation being grain for feeding animals and providing straw for bedding. You can drive for kilometers without meeting another vehicle and there are virtually no factories. This means that the air is clean and pollution free. Among the attractions are excellent walking, bird watching, bicycling, open air swimming, tennis, golf, fishing, local concerts and theatre, beautiful villages with churches and other buildings dating from earlier centuries, the French National Costume Museum in Moulins, the Street Art Village in Lurcy-Lévis, and the second largest number of Chateaux in France many of which you can visit. There is also the well preserved fortress of the Bourbon Kings in the beautiful town of Bourbon l'Archambault for which you can have a guided tour.
