Chris and Sharon Clark have been owners of the Old Shades since Sept 2017 ... Previously a farmer in the UK, Chris ran the farm and a successful contracting business and Sharon ran the farm's livery and administrative business from the farm office. It has always been a dream of theirs to move to France but they have been brave enough to take the step forward. Their son George is coming along in 2010 and watching him grow for the following 7 years (felt like 1) they have come to life. Both Chris and Sharon fell in love with The Old Shadows almost immediately and set off on their new adventure ....

Welcome to Les Vieilles Ombres, beautiful holiday cottages located in the beautiful region of Charente Maritime , famous for its long summers and mild winters. Located in the village of Bagnizeau, 3km from the town of Matha, where are most of the amenities, including supermarkets and bakeries. The Vieilles Ombres are located about 50 minutes from the beautiful beaches of the Atlantic coast, which offer one of the most beautiful coastal landscapes, the beaches of the Wild Coast offer their long white beaches and cliffs.

The Old Shades is located in the ancient village of Bagnizeau, which derives its name from the fact that around here, 2000 years ago, the Roman legions used the banks of the River Antenna as a natural bathing area. Nowadays you can wander down to the 11th century Norman church, using the village's impressive Golden Bowls and fishes along the river which bounds the village
