We own this traditional house since 2009. It's a magic place with much history. The property is divided in two parts, one part is about 1000 years old, builded as fortification; the other part was added 220 years ago, passing through several changes along the years. Many families have lived here. It has been also a barn, a storage, a little school, even a shop. Later was mainly used as vacations house. Now we live in here the whole year.
We are a young family who love living in the mountains, because its peacefull life, beautifull landscape, animals always around. But also we enjoy being close to the cities, so we have always what we need to run this place.
Borce is a French commune in the Aquitaine region in the department of Pyrenees-Atlantiques, a few miles from the Spanish border. It maintains the typical structure of mountain towns and is located in an idyllic natural area. Its altitude is between 560 and 2258 m. The name Borce was first mentioned in 1186 under the name of Borza. It was in the XI century a small village with stone and wood houses, where in the lower level, the people used to put their animals. Some of these houses were towers and / or fortifications. Besides its history, Borce is a starting and middle point of hiking routes through the mountains. Many hikers pass during the warmer seasons. Borce is an unmissable stop and a perfect holiday place for its great beauty and tranquility. It's an authentic medieval village with gardens and fountains that make it unique.
