La Basse-Cour is a beautiful property set in the charming village of Asnières-sur-Vègre. The property is home to the ‘Manoir de la Basse Cour”, a 15th century manor house which houses 4 luxury bed and breakfast rooms as well as the “Gites de la Basse-cour” which are 3 self-contained gîtes set at the back of the property. The Basse-cour is a family-run business owned by an English family who left the UK behind for the beautiful Pays de la Loire countryside in 2006. The Basse Cour property has been lovingly restored ever since, culminating with the manoir renovation is 2018. A traditional French village, Asnières offered a small peace of heaven to the family who were looking for an escape from the hustle and bustle of busy city life. The pure charm and beauty of the village won them over instantly, and the property, with its view to the river and glorious grounds, felt like home. Important notes: We do not have a restaurant onsite. This property does not have lift. All twin rooms are located on the second floor and are accessed via a narrow spiral staircase - they are not suitable for guests with mobility issues. All other rooms are on the 1st floor accessed via the same staircase. Each of the rooms is beautifully refined, combining modern luxury with elegant style. With wooden beams and original features including a stone spiral staircase, the Manor House truly captures the beauty of times gone by. Situated on the 1st and 2nd floors of the Manor House, our rooms are spacious and comfortable. Appealing to all traveller types, we offer a family room, a deluxe double and 2 signature twin rooms. Continental breakfast is served daily in the characterful dining room and guests can always be sure to enjoy a wonderful and plentiful selection... cereals, breads, warm pastries, tea, coffee, juice, cheeses and meats, home-made chutneys and jams, lovingly-baked cakes and fruit loaves and more. The Long Room Bar provides the ultimate selection of drinks to accompany the evening. Wine, gins and whiskeys are all on the menu, as well as a selection of locally produced craft beer. The outdoor heated swimming pool (seasonal) is the perfect place for a refreshing dip during those long summer days, and with sun loungers, and umbrellas, and a pool-house, you won't want to leave.
