Breakfast was great and the host facilitated an overly long breakfast as we were in a lengthy discussion with other guests, and didn’t want to interrupt us. An amazing host.

Lovely large room and bathroom. Parking undercover with electric charged if needed. We brought our own food with us and it was warm enough to eat outside. We both slept very well. The English hostess was very chatty and welcoming.

The room was bigger than expected with space to have a little lounge area. The shower was great, which is always important for us. The local medieval town of Saint-Loup-Lamare was quite a treat. Alison and Graeme were also really lovely, not only...

Company info

Graeme and Alison both grew up in the UK and moved to France nearly three years ago, settling into a quiet corner of the Deux Sèvres. They love the peace and quiet of rural France but also benefit from easy access to nearby towns and villages where pretty much everything they need is available. Having spent many years in rural Shropshire, they find a lot in common with rural Deux-Sèvres. They have three Beagles: Harrie, Pickle and Daisy. Harrie and Pickle seem to have adapted well to life in France, Daisy is a recent addition having been found on the streets in the south of the Deux Sèvres. They all have lots of conversations through the fence with the neighbour's dogs, who knows what variety of Canine they are speaking? They generally stay out of sight and earshot unless visitors are keen to meet them. Alison speaks French fluently and a smattering of German and Dutch. Graeme is working hard to learn French as soon as he can. They have both spent many years working internationally and are used to checking in and out of hotels on a regular basis and so have very definite ideas on what makes for a happy stay: the quality of the bed and linens (who wants to lie awake in a lumpy bed?) an excellent breakfast and a plentiful supply of plug and USB points in each room (who now travels with only one electric device?) They work hard to maintain excellent standards in the above and many other important aspects. Their efforts are rewarded by the wonderful comments that people leave in their reviews. Life in around Louin is lively with lots to see and do: the food is amazing, the wine is great and the people are very welcoming. What more could anyone need? For both, running a bed and breakfast is all about welcoming into their home 'friends they haven't met yet'.

Property info

O Trois Oliviers was once a working farm that was transformed into a very comfortable guest house around twenty five years ago. It has three large, well-equipped rooms along with a magnificent dining room where guests enjoy a copious French breakfast. Each of the rooms has its own fridge, hairdryer and plenty of electric plug-sockets for today's traveller. It's located very close (less than 4km) to a section of the Vèlo Francette route from Ouistreham to La Rochelle and is also easily accessible to the old (and new!) pilgrimage routes that stretch from The Netherlands to Saint Jacques de Compostèle.

Neighborhood info

The house is within easy reach of three mediaeval towns with markets, restaurants and shops yet it stands in a peaceful hamlet surrounded by farms and countryside. A fantastic museum at Airvault, a national art gallery at the Chateau d'Oiron, a lively arts community in St Loup are just a few of the excellent attractions. There is reservoir nearby with sports such as rock-climbing, wind-surfing and birdwatching facilities. We are around an hour from Futuroscope, Puy de Fou and the BioParc.
