Avonlea is a newly refurbished, self-contained cottage overlooking Tomintoul village square, and offers a luxurious holiday experience in quaint village life. This stunning cottage is tucked away in a quiet corner of the village square, and is uniquely styled with interiors reflecting a love of art and design. William Morris patterns and characterful furnishings are a theme throughout. Relax in the cosy living room with comfy sofas, a wood burning stove, original artworks, and a smart TV. The fully equipped kitchen, with dining table and range-style oven, is stocked with essential food stuffs and a welcome hamper to settle you in. There is a handy boot room, with wooden pulley for drying off outdoor attire, that leads you to the back door. Also on the ground floor is a bright and airy bathroom with over-bath rain shower. Soaps, bubble bath, and luxurious towels are provided. Upstairs you will find the sumptuous main bedroom (bedroom 1) with king-size bed, cotton sheets, wardrobe, chest of drawers, under bed storage drawers, smart TV, and blackout curtains. Along the corridor is the twin bedroom (bedroom 2), decorated with an enchanting feature wall, chest of drawers, TV, and blackout curtains. There is a small powder room, with a toilet, between the upstairs bedrooms. Downstairs, to the right of the front door (and through an internal door), is the downstairs bedroom (bedroom 3) with king-size bed, cotton sheets, wardrobe, chest of drawers, smart TV, and blackout blind. It is gorgeously decorated with a theme of misty ferns and grasses, with a mural wall to accentuate the motif. Outdoor seating at the front overlooks the square.

As a new host, I am very excited about welcoming people to the cottage this year, 2024. A lot of love and thought have gone into the interiors and guest experience. Please note that I live on site. To the right of the downstairs bedroom there is an internal door, leading to a short corridor and another door. Beyond there, are my living quarters. Both of these doors will remain locked throughout your stay. The kitchen and downstairs bedroom overlook my garden. The garden gate, behind the cottage, will also remain locked.

Tomintoul, in the Cairngorms National Park, is the highest village in the Highlands of Scotland. It hosts a general store, restaurant, whisky shop, post office, museum, cafés, pubs, and gift shops. Several famous whisky distilleries are within easy reach by car, most of which operate tours for the public, and both the Bike Glenlivet mountain bike trails and Lecht Ski Centre are just 10 minutes away by car. Tomintoul also offers a fantastic woodland adventure playground, a nature trail, a circular walk, a bird hide for nature watchers, and a registered Dark Sky Discovery Site*. * Please note that some of these establishments are seasonal only, so it’s important to research your stay in advance and to also arrive with sufficient food supplies. A car is essential for getting around. The nearest airports are Inverness (43 miles) and Aberdeen (56 miles). The nearest railway stations are Aviemore (29 miles) and Keith (30 miles).
