Set in the tranquil surroundings of Ardchuig, the bothan enjoys uninterrupted views across the hills of South Uist, with glimpses of Skye visible on clear days. The nearby bay offers wonderful opportunities to observe local wildlife, with birds and seals frequently seen, best enjoyed using the binoculars provided. Designed as something truly unique, the bothan is two thoughtfully converted shipping containers, carefully crafted into a cosy and stylish haven. Adjacent to the property lies the historic remains of a thatched cottage, once home to a mariner until the early 1990s. While we hope to restore it in time, we kindly ask guests not to enter the structure due to safety concerns. We invite you to relax, unwind, and experience the quiet charm of island life.

We are Joan and Martin, and it is our pleasure to welcome you to our beautifully secluded retreat. Born in South Uist and raised in Benbecula, Joan has always had a deep connection to these islands. Although life took her to Glasgow where we met the desire to return never left. Bothan by the Bay is the realisation of that dream.
