The conservation area of "Streetly End" is a picturesque hamlet of period thatched properties nestled in the gentle rolling hills of south east Cambridgeshire. Chequer Cottage has been lovingly restored over the years we have lived here and offers guests stylish, yet traditional accommodation with all the conveniences of today. The Garden Room; large spacious double with king size bed, easy chairs and en-suite with large walk in shower. Everything you should need is at your fingertips with fresh flowers and luxury products. Your room overlooks the cottage garden and views of the surrounding countryside. Enjoy afternoon tea under the walnut tree, stroll or take a bicycle ride down a country lane and walk to the local pub for an excellent meal - above all relax in the peace and tranquility of the area. Breakfast is served in the cottage dining room using local fresh produce and eggs from our neighbours happy hens!
David and I have a lovely job - very social, meeting people from many diverse backgrounds, exchanging stories and experiences. Many of our guests leave as our friends and regularly return. With over 30 years experience we have mastered the art of ensuring your stay is special and memorable. Here at Chequer Cottage you are sure to feel at home and leave well relaxed and content!
Chequer Cottage is located in a small conservation hamlet of predominately 17th century thatched period properties. It is a 10 minute walk to a local pub serving excellent food. Cambridge is 14 miles to the city centre and 10 miles to the nearest park and ride. Twelve minutes drive from M11 Junction 9. Nearby facilities include the Imperial War Museum Duxford with its annual air shows. The city of Cambridge which needs no description is only 14 miles away whilst the famous Granta Science Park is 8 miles away. The Stour Valley with its attractive villages including Clare .Cavendish, Long Melford and Lavenham are on our doorstep. The attractive village of Saffron Walden with its good Tuesday market is a short 8 miles drive away
