Our beautifully refurbished 270-year-old cottage overlooks Burgh Island and Challaborough Beach, offering the perfect escape for beach lovers, walkers, wild swimmers, and anyone craving a slower pace. Whether you're planning a summer holiday, a weekend surf trip, or a cosy winter break by the fire, this is your place to unwind. Enjoy morning coffee with panoramic views, dine al fresco on the beach-facing patio, or explore scenic walks in both directions along the coast path — towards Bigbury-on-Sea or the unspoiled beauty of the River Erme. With surfing, wild swimming, fishing, pubs, an area steeped in history, and restaurants all within walking distance, you can choose to explore… or simply stay put and soak it all in. Well-behaved pets are very welcome upon request and are 50 pounds per stay.

Dad to Cooper, Coco and Maddox. Husband to Zoe. Zoe and I have lived in Challaborough since 2012. I grew up on the West coast of Scotland and Zoe in New Zealand. We love hosting and helping people to enjoy their holidays. We are 50m away if needed, 2 doors up from the shop. The house name is Casanueva.

On the doorstep of our cosy cottage is Challaborough Bay beach (100m from the cottage), the South West Coast Path, Bigbury-On-Sea, Ayrmer Cove and Burgh Island with the famous Burgh Island Hotel. There is a shop 100m from the cottage that is open in the spring/summer/autumn months. Otherwise, Holywell Stores in St Annes Chapel (5 mins drive) is the next closest and is great for local produce as well as basics. The market town of Modbury is 10 minutes away and has a Co-Op as well as other local shops. There is a Holiday Park that has a pub on the beach front where you can enjoy a wide selection of drinks and basic food. There is also 2 takeaways. A 10-minute walk away is the amazing Journeys End Inn, a 13th Century Pub famed for its delicious food and fascinating history. Kingsbridge and Salcombe towns are both less than 12 miles away. Kingsbridge has a Tesco and Morrisons Supermarkets, a Saturday Market and many other local shops. There is a bus once a week from the village to Plymouth, this is the only public transport! Sea, coast path or country lanes are the only other way in and out! The lanes are narrow but the shop takes delivery from a large lorry.
