Guests often comment on its history, with stories of its use during wartime, which gives the building real character. While the building is older, it has been fully renovated to create a cosy, warm, and modern feel throughout. There are two apartments within the building that are short-term lets. The one-bedroom apartment is located on the top floor and offers sea views. The two-bedroom apartment is on the second floor and features a large walk-in shower. If you lean out of the side window, this apartment also technically has side sea views. Access to both apartments is via stairs only, as there is no lift in the building. The lighthouse, built in 1836 and still operational, is an iconic landmark. History lovers will appreciate the Donaghadee Moat and Camera Obscura—a Norman motte crowned by an early 19th‑century gunpowder store, now home to Ireland’s only accessible Camera Obscura. The Moat is open seasonally and free to enter. Grace Neill’s pub, dating back to 1611, is believed to be Ireland’s oldest licensed pub. With stone flooring and ship-beam interiors it’s full of character and local stories.
