Grey Goose cottage is in a beautiful part of the world. It is the last house at the end of a single track road, but only a 20 minute drive to Stornoway. To the south there are views over Loch Erisort where white tailed-eagles, the largest UK bird of prey, can be seen. To the north, there are views over the garden down to Loch Keose, which lies less than 50 metres away. Loch Koese is one of the loveliest lochs in the Hebrides. Greylag geese are often seen on the loch, with brown trout jumping in the evenings. Guests can head down the loch and have a good chance of catching a few trout for their efforts. Around the cottage you are likely to bump into our very friendly free range hens, and hopefully, during your stay we will be able to let you sample of their delicious yellow yoked eggs and experience a small bit of the good life.
Jennifer & her family love the outdoors and moved to the Island last year after working several years in Africa. They were struck by the incredible setting of Grey Goose cottage and have spent the winter of 2019 renovating it to make the most of the light and the incredible views from the cottage. The family live nearby if any assistance is needed during your visit.
Close to the cottage there is a path to the moor where red grouse are often present. On the moor visitors can see the traditional way of cutting peat that local families have done for centuries. From the the top of the moor on a clear day the mountains of mainland Scotland can be seen or just stop and have a picnic at the conveniently placed picnic bench at the top of the hill. A mile from the cottage is a well equipped kids play ground in the village.
