With a convenient location, next to the A690 and just off the A1(M), the hotel offers comfortable en suite accommodation, a Thai restaurant, free Wi-Fi and free parking. Situated between the A1(M) and the A19, the Highfield Hotel is just off the A690, between Sunderland and Durham. The city centres of both Durham and Sunderland are less than 10 miles (16 km) away and the shops of the Metro Centre in Gateshead are only a 20-minute drive away. Free private parking is available on site. All of the rooms have private en suite bath and shower facilities. Wireless internet is available in the entire hotel and is free of charge. The hotel’s authentic Thai restaurant, the Star of Siam, is the longest established Thai restaurant in the North East. The restaurant offers delicious traditional Thai food and magnificent views of the Penshaw Monument and the surrounding valley.
