A nice cottage centrally located in the village in a quiet area. Parking right outside the cottage. The owners had made the place very Christmassy as we were there over Christmas. Very good communication with owners.

Mews Cottage is situated within the small picturesque town of Middleton-in-Teesdale, located in the North Pennines, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The cottage sleeps five and offers an ideal base for exploring the surrounding countryside, with walking routes on the doorstep suitable for all ages. Nearby is the impressive High Force waterfall, with the market town of Barnard Castle a short drive away. Mews Cottage offers three bedrooms, a double, twin and single, a full kitchen with oven, fridge and microwave and a living room with TV with integrated DVD player. The property features free wifi. Outside is a small seating area with secure cycle stands and free parking spaces. The town of Middleton-in-Teesdale offers a variety of dining options, including restaurants, coffee shops and takeaways as well as a well-stocked Co-Op and several craft shops. Mews Cottage used to be stabling for horses travelling from the historic market town of Alston.
Middleton-in-Teesdale is a small village with lots of fantastic walks, all starting from the centre of the village. There are good local shops that supply all that is needed for your holiday. The North Pennines This area is one England’s darkest skies. The North Pennines AONB & UNESCO Global Geopark is recognised as the darkest mainland AONB in the country. In the North Pennines you’ll see thousands of stars overhead compared to only a handful in towns and cities. You’ll see the Milky Way in all its glory, along with distant galaxies and sparkling star clusters and more Dark Sky Discovery Sites than anywhere else in the UK. Dark Sky Discovery Sites Parts of Durham have some of the darkest skies in England, making it one of the best places in the country for stargazing.
