It was great! Staying in the countryside was an amazing experience, and there is even a beautiful route for a walk along the river. The morning was quite cool and we could light a little fire. Robyn was always responsive and helpful.

Characterful 17th century white washed cottage in the North Pennines designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, you will quickly feel the peace enfold you. Setback from a quiet lane in a small enclave of similar old properties it is a rural hideaway suitable for a small family, three adults, couple, single traveller. Picturesque setting with views over the moors, log stove, exposed beams, enclosed gardens, off road parking, it really is the romantic ‘roses round the door’ country cottage, literally & figuratively, providing all you need for a special break or longer holiday. Ideal place to take a break, slow down & relax. It is a pet friendly cottage & welcomes up to 2 well behaved dogs. Child friendly, includes travel cot, chair bed, stair safety gate, changing mat, safety fire guard, high chair etc on request. The log burner is the main source of heat & is made up ready for guests to light. But each room also has an electric wall heater as additional background heat. Guests are provided with a starter pack of fuel for the first night. If guests wish to have further firers neat packs of logs & kindling are easily purchased at any of the Coop stores up & down the dale. Two minute walk to village pub serves food, real ale brewery (dogs allowed in beer garden). Weardale Way & Pennine Journey 50 metres from front door. 1.5 mile drive away, heading west, the neighbouring village of St John’s Chapel has a café, co-op & two pubs serving food, allows dogs. Heading east the Cross keys pub serves food, allows dogs. Going east the larger villages of Stanhope & Wolsingham are a short drive. Head further out over the moors the views are spectacular & one route will take you to the beautiful unspoilt village of Blanchland which has provided the period backdrop for many film & TV dramas. At its centre The Lord Crewe is recommended in many food & drink guides having won numerous awards situated in a amazing 1165 monastery building. Map & variety of local info in cottage
Our beautiful whitewashed 400 year old cottage is nestled in an "Area Of Outstanding Natural Beauty" the North Pennines. It provides stunning views of the hills & moors from the property & two gardens. Amazing off road walks are available directly from the garden gate. Weardale is one of the Durham Dales which was once the hunting ground of County Durham’s Prince Bishops. This spectacular dale has beautiful historic settlements, great attractions and exhilarating landscapes to discover.
