Welcome to South Downs View, a warm and welcoming homestay nestled in the peaceful suburbs of Brighton. This is not a bed and breakfast, guest house, hotel or apartment, there are no numbered rooms, it’s a real home, offering comfort, and a local touch. Rooms Available: Room with King-Size Bed (Upstairs): A room with a sloped ceiling -please note and see photo before booking to ensure it is suitable for you. It features a king-size bed, tea & coffee tray, bathrobe, toiletries, and a 32" Smart TV with streaming apps and panoramic views of the South Downs. Single Room (Ground Floor): A cosy and comfortable room with a toilet located just opposite for your private use. Includes toiletries, bathrobe, and a 32" Smart TV with streaming apps and panoramic views of the South Downs. All guests share a modern, stylish and immaculately clean upstairs bathroom, used by both the host and guests. (Restricted shower in quiet times from 11pm until 6.30am so other guests aren't disturbed) There are a selection of toiletries for your use as well as a basket in each room. Outdoor Space: You're welcome to enjoy the stunning garden with panoramic views of the South Downs. It's a perfect place to relax, watch the sunset, or enjoy breakfast on a sunny morning. Breakfast: A light self-serve breakfast is available in the kitchen each morning, comprising cereal, toast, pastries, yogurt, tea and coffee. Photo is shown. Please note that cooked breakfast is not provided. Kitchen: microwave available for reheating meals, full kitchen not available. Parking: Off-street driveway parking is available on request for cars or small vans – one space per room. Photo shows driveway. If you're arriving in a larger vehicle and have booked both rooms, you may be able to park on the drive at an angle. Free on-street parking is also available. There are no EV charging facilities on-site, but public chargers are available nearby via Blink Charging.

Hi! I'm Karen, your host at South Downs View. I’m friendly, relaxed, and passionate about making guests feel welcome and at ease in my home. I’ve lived in Brighton my whole life and love to share tips about the best local spots, restaurants, and things to do, whether you're here to explore the city, enjoy the countryside, or a bit of both. I love meeting people from all over the world and creating a comfortable, respectful space for guests. I’ll give you as much privacy as you’d like, but I'm always happy to chat and offer advice if you’d like some local insight. I work full-time and sometimes I'm away overnight at weekends but even when I’m not at home, I’m always available by phone to help if needed. Any problems or things you're not happy with please mention personally at the time.

Just a 3 minute walk away is a bus stop that can take you to the city centre, seafront, train station, and universities in 20 minutes. This is best as parking in the city is expensive and difficult. There is also an excellent taxi/Uber service. The local Preston Park makes this property a great option for visitors of Brighton Pride and the Brighton Marathon. There are three local pubs, one serving Thai food called Long Man of Wilmington, the Ladies Mile and Park View serving traditional pub food. There is also a wonderful Italian restaurant called La Tana, a Miller and Carter steakhouse, Patcham fish and chips and several excellent Indians. There is a small convenience store 2 minutes walk away, a Post Office and a lovely local coffee shop. Nearby are lots of lovely local walks over the golf course, a short drive to beautiful Stanmer Park with the wonderful One Garden cafe and restaurant and if looking for a longer walk a stroll up to the South Downs and see the Chattri monument.
