Burray is a beautiful island, connected to the rest of Orkney and South Ronaldsay by the Churchill Barriers. All of Orkney's attractions are within easy driving distance and we have an excellent bus service going from St Margaret's Hope through Kirkwall on to Stromness and back again! The surrounding area offers beach walks and hill walks and the views are all amazing. The atmosphere here is laid back and friendly, a real peaceful corner in a busy world. Both Tangles and Kelpie are a great base for exploring Orkney. From both properties the beach is only a short walk away, or take a gentle hike up to the top of the hills surrounding the village to enjoy sweeping views out over the sea to Holm, Deerness, South Ronaldsay, Flotta and beyond!
A short walk away we have the Sands Hotel which offers excellent meals at lunch and dinner, plus a friendly local bar. During April-September the Orkney Fossil and Heritage Centre is a must visit and the local cafe Polly Kettle is just along the road, serving wonderful cakes and savoury treats as well as an array of local crafts.
