This small village lies on the eastern edge of Plymouth, boasting a church, selection of pubs and organic farm shops. Interestingly, Yealmpton is home to Mother Hubbard's Cottage from the nursery rhyme, formerly the home of the housekeeper at Kitley House, who was the muse for the story. Dartmoor Zoological Park is easily reached, as is Wembury Beach and Saltram country house, an outstandingly beautiful, Georgian mansion in Plymouth.
