This family-run hotel rests on the western edge of the Lake District, offering dramatic, panoramic views of the Loweswater Valley and mountains beyond. Set against the imposing Melbreak, from which the hotel takes it name, and the rugged coastline of the Solway Firth, this hotel lies in 3 acres of beautiful grounds. The Conservatory Restaurant provides superb views of the surrounding landscape. The lounge bar, popular with locals and guests alike, is a relaxing place to enjoy a drink or light snack. Conveniently positioned just off the A66, the main route through the North Lakes, The Melbreak Hotel offers easy access for Workington and the Cumbrian coast.

The Melbreak Hotel, near Workington, is a family owned, motel style hotel, offering high standards of accommodation and service. Tastefully converted from an 18th century farmstead, the hotel has 36 bedrooms and 2 suites, all of which have en-suite bathrooms. All of our rooms are non-smoking.

Neighborhood info

The hotel is ideally situated to use as a base to discover and take advantage of all the area has to offer, whether that might be a gentle stroll around the nearby market towns and villages, a brisk walk around some of the nearby lakes or something more adventurous such as rock climbing or off-road cycling. The area also plays host during the summer months to many country shows where local crafts, livestock and activities such as Cumberland Wrestling and Hound Trailing can be enjoyed. The area regularly plays host to some fantastic events and festivals throughout the year, many of which are extremely well attended with visitors travelling from near and far.
