Overlooking the terracotta rooftops of Amari Village and offering panoramic views across the valley to Mount Ida, Amari Villas is the perfect place to unwind and recharge. It is an ideal base to explore the undiscovered Crete for anyone who wishes to get away from the crowded touristic areas, yet being close enough to visit them. Originally constructed in the mid 1800’s, the stone-built dwelling is the former home of the owner’s grandparents. The property has been lovingly restored keeping its original elements and blending them with all contemporary comforts. There are 2 individual villas available: 1. The “Villa with Private Pool” features exclusively a pool area with BBQ facilities and has 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and 2 open terraces. 2. The “Three-Bedroom Villa” has 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, 2 large sun terraces and 1 shaded veranda (please note this villa does not have a pool). Each one of the villas is traditionally decorated and features a living room with fireplace, a fully equipped kitchen, a dining, storage and laundry. As an option, the guests may be delighted to enjoy homemade meals of authentic Cretan cuisine and local breakfast dishes, available on request.

Set in a majestic mountain landscape of ancient olive groves, Byzantine chapels and a delightful labyrinth of country lanes, the Amari Valley is a joy to explore. Rich in nature, the area features tiny hamlets largely untouched by tourism, important Minoan and other historical sites and some of the most exciting gorges of Crete. Equidistant from Crete's north and south coasts and set against the ever-changing colors of the mountains, this place is truly Crete off-the-beaten-track. The Amari (pop. 200), a peaceful village of excellent climate at the center of the valley, is a gentle hiker’s paradise. Numerous paths surrounding the village offer great walks through the mesmerizing nature to the 7 tiny Byzantine chapels, hidden in the fields. The Valley features amazing gorges hosting many kinds of birds, incl. Agios Antonios, near Patsos (14km); and Platania (7km) on the western edge of Mount Ida. The nearby area is rich in history with several sites like Syvritos (7km) and Minoan Monastiraki (2km). Other significant sites lie a little further away, incl. Arkadi Monastery (13km), Ancient Eleftherna (21km), Rethymno Town (36km), Festos Palace, (38km) & Preveli Monastery (40km).
