Makri is a coastal village located 12 km west of the municipality of Alexandroupolis. It is situated about 12 kilometers west of the center of Alexandroupolis, and the village is easily accessible via a junction on the Egnatia Highway. The village is known for the ancient "Olive Grove of Makri," and the local olive oil produced here is a PDO (Protected Designation of Origin) product. The small port of the village hosts traditional boats, and around it, visitors can find fresh fish and local recipes. During your stay, don't forget to discover the area's attractions, such as the Church of Saint Anastasia, a three-aisled basilica located next to the house, dating back to 1833. It features a wooden carved iconostasis that houses images of great value. Right next to it, you can see the remnants of the Orthodox Church of Saint Demetrius, on which a Muslim mosque was built in 1907.
