The Property: Discover Athens from the heart of the city! Centrally located in the vibrant, multicultural neighborhood of Theatrou Square, the Athens Theatrou Apartments are fully renovated and located on the 4th floor of an historic old building which offers our guests a modern blend of character, comfort and charm. Each of our 8 units has been meticulously transformed into a cozy oasis, showcasing a contemporary design, modern amenities, stylish decor, and a warm ambiance. Guests will be sent an individualized digital code which will grant convenient and secure access to the main entrance of the building, the 4th floor entrance to the apartments, and to your apartment door. We have also established a dedicated Athens Theatrou Apartments elevator for the sole use of accessing the 4th floor. In addition, there are 24hr CCTV cameras located at the entrance and throughout the inside of the building to ensure your security during your stay.

The Neighborhood: Theatrou (Theater) Square has a long and rich history (the name actually derives from the Boukoura Theater — Athens’ first permanent modern theater — which existed there from 1840 to 1897). We’re also pleased to announce that urban redevelopment plans for the square were approved in 2023, promising an extremely bright future! At the start of the square’s redevelopment, the remains of ancient Roman ruins with mosaic floors were recently discovered in front of the Diplarios School (itself an historical structure built in 1932 as Greece’s first technical arts school). Take a peek over the metal fence (directly across the street from the building) to get a great view of the ruins! Make a left turn out of the apartment building, and just around the corner is the iconic Athens Central Market (aka Varvakios Agora), a thriving marketplace filled with diverse flavors and aromas. A favorite playground of locals, Athens Central Market (open 7am to 6pm, Mon-Sat) is a living “monument” operating continuously for almost 150 years. The market boasts an abundance of amazing stalls and shops selling the city’s freshest food and spices, one-of-a-kind antiques and souvenirs to take home, as well as tasty treats to savor when you get back to your apartment! Also, make sure to visit the amazing eateries, both inside and around the market, offering incredible authentic Greek dishes! The surrounding neighborhood features many fantastic restaurants and street food stands (including a variety of options for international cuisine), lively tavernas, cool bars and funky cafes, all just a stone’s throw away. You’re also just a 7-10 minute walk from some of the city’s main attractions, including the legendary Monastiraki Square, the stunning Temple of Hephaestus, and the iconic Ancient Agora. Less than 1.5km away from your apartment are the Acropolis, Syntagma Square, the Plaka, and the National Archaeological Museum. We encourage our guests to explore the local culture!
