AXONI WINDMILL HOUSE on is located 13 Km from the island’s capital , just outside from the small village OTHOS .The area is very quiet and far away from the tourist zone. It is built on an idyllic ridge with a panoramic 360 degrees view that is breathtaking. The traditional windmill was initially built 300 years ago along with 35 others on the same crest ( unfortunately all that is left from the other mills are just ruins). AXONI was fully renovated in 2023 with respect to tradition but always taking under consideration comfort and functionality . In the house’s living room area the mill’s axis and mechanism dominate imposingly. The wooden beams that support the roof made of straw and soil are there to remind us of the past. The detailed décor from tools and utensils is there to testify the house’s original purpose ‘’flour making’’. The cozy fireplace is the perfect addition to this dreamy house. There are 2 bedrooms, a fully equipped kitchen and a modern bathroom with a minimalistic decoration . The nearest supermarket is 1 Km away as well restaurants ,traditional coffee shops and the ‘’Othos folklore museum’’. There are many beaches with a 15 minute drive as well as the famous fishing village FINIKI with its well-known taverns that specialize in fresh fish.
