Maria (Marouli) Fragkaki, née Vergadi, was born in 1908. This house was given to her as a wedding gift in 1928 upon her marriage to Aristidis Fragkakis. Originally, the home consisted of just two rooms — a ground floor stable and an upper floor — and was later expanded through the purchase of the adjoining property. The original mosaic staircase remains untouched, and the home was renovated in 1955 by the family to be rented out and support their five-member household. It was later passed down as a dowry to her daughter, Stella Geronymaki, and then to her granddaughter, Maria Geronymaki Karouzou, as a wedding gift when she married Manolis Karouzos. At that point, the house was completed in its current form. The name Casa Marouli was chosen to honor the original owner, as a symbol of love and respect. Today, the house continues its legacy as a welcoming space that fosters human connection and cultural exchange.
