We are Ignatia and Nikos and we are excited to host you to our traditional house. We love Lesvos island and we would like to share the secrets of this mythical place with you.

The village of Polichnitos is located on the south-western part of the island, approximately 45km from the capital city of Mytilene. Polichnitos received its name from the union of the words “Polla ihni”, which means "many villages" which used to exist mainly along the coast of Lesvos, due to the fear of Saracen pirates, were compelled to move to the current location which is surrounded by hills and invisible from sea. The village has been declared a protected settlement area and a visit here will acquaint you with the traditional architecture of Lesvos. Walking around Polichnitos, you will come across neoclassical mansions, shops and traditional houses. A few kilometers away, you can visit the small village Nifida, where you can enjoy fresh fish -especially the famous sardines-and greek food at the local taverns. 5 minutes driving away, you can visit the picturesque small port of Scala Polichnitou and the salt pans of the wetland of Kalloni gulf, an important natural area with rich biodiversity, with more than 300 species of birds (flamingos etc), numerous species of fish, plants and animals. Only 7 km away from Polichnitos lies the beautiful, sandy beach of Vatera. It is the longest beach of the island and famous for the crystal clear waters. You can spend the day relaxing at the beach, swimming and enjoying greek food and drinks at one of the seaside tavernas, beach bars or nightclubs. Last but not least, don't forget to enjoy the amazing sunset over the volcanic rocks at the cape of Agios Fokas ,few minutes driving from Vatera, where you can also visit remains of the ancient temple of Dionysus. 1.5km away from Polichnitos, you can find the thermal springs Hippocrates. They are considered as the warmest (87.6°C) and the best in Europe in terms of therapeutic ingredients, in combination with the temperature.
