The stone-built house where the flats are located was constructed in the 1920's. It underwent a 4-year extensive renovation that was finally completed in 2009. The first floor flat is used by the owner as his own holiday flat. The two ground floor flats on rental are about 60m2 each. They are fully furnished and of identical layout. Each consists of one bedroom with double bed, a large sitting room with a double sofa-bed, a dining room leading to an open kitchen and a shower/wc room. The walls are covered with posters of past exhibitions held at Andros Goulandris Modern Art Museum. A very spacious, sea-facing veranda, is ideal to spend some idle quality time lazing about, admiring the views of the village as it unfolds all the way down the hill to the sea...

I am in my sixties, early retiree, ex tv-executive. My wife Lena and I are both from Cyprus. We came to Andros a weekend in June 2001 and drove around the island. One road lead us down to the beach of Kato Yialia where we had a wonderful swim and lunch at the excellent local taverna which to date is still as popular as ever. Something mystical propelled us to carry on up the road to the village of Stenies that we could see perched above us. We were not disappointed. I remarked that I felt like I was in the South of France or in the Italian Riviera. Lena instead, said it reminded her of the village of Karmi in the Kyrenia region of Cyprus where she comes from (presently still under Turkish occupation). We walked round the Stenies for a bit and fell in love with it in minutes. As we were about to get into our car to leave, a building worker approached us and asked us if he could get a lift from us back to Hora. I asked him back if he knew of any houses for sale in Stenies and he immediately volunteered to show us one. We followed him to a house and our mouths dropped! The rest is history! We subsequently renamed the house KARMI!

The picturesque village of Stenies, perched on the hills overlooking the bay of Kato Yialia is where most of Andros's shipping magnates come from. Stenies is only 7 minutes away by car from Hora, the capital of Andros. The beaches of Kato and Pera Yialia are within walking distance, barely 15 minutes away.
