Lemon Tree House derives its name from the neo-classical residence that was built here in the late 19th century. It was originally the home of Fokas Economides, Karpathos' first judge. He was appointed by the Italians occupying the island as judge to Karpathos and Kasos from 1912 to 1932. This highly respected judge raised his seven children in this neo-classical building which still proudly stands among other neo-classical homes bearing the architecture and colours that are distinct to the Dodecanesian isles. The magnificent lemon tree that once stood here continues to live on in the courtyard where lemon trees were planted from branches of the original tree. The admirable heritage of this historic home has been retained in the comfortable accomodations which have been nestled here in the heart of Pigadia since 1994.
