The name Messavóli is no coincidence: it draws inspiration from both “place” and “path.” Specifically, it originates from “Messaria,” the traditional village at the heart of Santorini where the residence is located, and “vóli,” an old local term used to describe the stone-paved paths that once connected homes and courtyards. Today, this historic mansion has been thoughtfully transformed into a contemporary residence. In its past life, it functioned as a traditional canava—a wine-making space where Santorini’s renowned wines were once produced. The original wine press is still preserved on-site, serving as a living testament to the island’s rich vinicultural legacy. The recent renovation was carried out with passion and care, honoring every traditional detail while introducing subtle modern touches.
