Neossiko is housed in a historic listed mansion on the waterfront of Chios, overlooking the island's harbor. For more than a century, it has been an integral part of the city's history and architectural heritage. In the early 20th century, as Chios' new harbor was being constructed and the modern waterfront was taking shape, the mansion that now houses Neossiko was built. Historical research revealed that it was commissioned by Ilias Iliaskos, co-founder of the company responsible for the construction of the new Port of Chios. Neossiko was not simply built beside the harbor. It was born with it. A few years later, the mansion became the residence of the historic Pateras shipping family, further strengthening its connection to Chios' rich maritime heritage. Recognized as a protected historic landmark, the building has been carefully restored with deep respect for its original architecture and character. Particular attention was given to preserving its distinctive red façade, which was faithfully restored in accordance with the guidelines of the Greek Ministry of Culture, maintaining one of the waterfront's most recognizable landmarks. The name Neossiko is inspired by the ancient Greek word "Neosoikos," referring to the covered structures in ancient harbors where ships were sheltered and maintained. The name was chosen as a tribute to the building's enduring connection with the harbor, the sea, and the island's long maritime tradition. Today, more than a century later, Neossiko welcomes guests to experience authentic hospitality in a beautifully restored historic mansion, where heritage, architecture, and contemporary comfort come together in perfect harmony
