A getaway for relaxation with friends and an exploration hub throughout the whole year. Olea has large spaces and plenty of natural light coming in - every room has large window(s). We have thoughtfully placed ambient lighting to make nights cozy, and retractable insect mesh screens in every door and window that let the pleasant summer breeze in. Menta is our ground floor and Kissa is our upper floor. Each is autonomous, with its private entrance, one double bedroom, a fully equipped kitchen, a bathroom, and a living/ dining room. Menta also has a small office room with a sea view and a fireplace. Kissa can sleep 2 additional people in the extendable sofa beds. The two floors can be separated by closing the staircase trapdoor.

Olea has been the vacation home of every summer, Christmas and Easter holiday of mine ever since I remember. Now I've started learning how our olive oil is produced. My grandfather Mimis was a farmer who bought this land and built the house. My parents renovated the property and now I've put all my care in opening up this escape experience for seekers of the authentic. I like to travel around the world. But Olea is my dearest place that has always helped me keep it real. Imagine waking up on a warm summer morning, walking barefoot to the outdoor shower, and pouring fresh water all over you while watching the sun conversing with the olive trees. Discover such moments of freedom, peace and pure joy every hour of the day. Cook delicious meals, enjoy food with good company, read, walk in our olive grove, take glorious naps, lay on the grass, pick up mulberries from our garden in May, listen to the bells of the neighbor’s sheep, climb a tree, listen to the birds, take a deep breath, feel free and enjoy. This is Olea. Reach us by car, whirling among olive tree fields for 4.7 km after Gythio town, then 300 m into our private road. Welcome.

Our area is populated by olive farmers. Each has a house on the top of a hill and the olive grove around it, like ourselves. Expect some wildlife around, as our estate is near the forest. Foxes, wild boars and rabbits may roam around at night, but they have never bothered us. The closest beaches are Selinitsa (5 km from Olea) with its unofficial nudist area at its left end, Valtaki (9 km) with its famous shipwreck and Mavrovouni (7 km), where you can try surfing. Vathy and Skoutari are beautiful sandy beaches. Excursions: Gythio is an ideal hub for three alternative trips: Explore the region of Mani (the middle “leg” of the Peloponnesian peninsula) and visit Areopoli, a picturesque town, and the impressive Diros Caves. Or head north to the city of Sparta (40 km) and visit the medieval town of Mystras nearby. Sparta’s mountain, Taygetos, has charming nature during the summer and scattered villages with delicious Greek food for you to discover. You can also head towards the right Peloponnesian “leg” for the pristine Elafonisos island. On your way back, head towards the unique-of-its-kind medieval island fortress of Monemvasia.
