Two hours from Athens, ten minutes from the sea, a world away. The Stone House is our family's traditional village house in the olive groves of Ambelos, above Akrata — thick stone walls, blue shutters, and shaded courtyards, with unhurried space for up to 8 plus a baby. The master has a king bed and its own private entry to the patio and garden; the loft holds a double bed and cot, with steps down to the living room and one more single; the garden room sleeps three, beside the fully equipped kitchen and the outdoor oven — fresh bread or pizza, the way the village has always made it. One bathroom with washing machine. The house keeps its sea view hidden: walk up the steps behind it and a quiet lookout over the Gulf is yours alone. Sun-drenched and tranquil — birdsong, the scent of flowers and lemons — with room to work remotely or gather for workshops and celebrations. Family-run, pet-friendly, open all four seasons, with 150 olive trees for a garden.
We're a family, and this is our family's hillside — you get real hosts, not a management company. The day before you arrive, Irena will send everything you need for check-in, and your key will be waiting in the door. In case you need anything, please send us a message and we will be there.
Akrata is known for its beaches, and the river Krathis runs through it from the Aroania mountains to the sea. Twenty km up the river road lies Lake Tsivlou — formed by a landslide in 1912, ringed by fir forest — on the way to Zarouchla and the winter ski resort at Kalavryta. The ancient city of Aegae and its theatre lie near Akrata; this shoreline appears in Homer, and the archaeological museum nearby holds finds from Neolithic to Roman times. For families, Park Synest offers fairy-tale nature trails and restaurants; for bird lovers, the coastal walk from Aigio's lighthouse reaches the Aliki lagoon, where flamingos gather. The village of Ambelos sits 2.5 km above the beach — quiet, green, and ours.
