I am a retired linguistics professor who enjoys travelling around the world and meeting people from many different cultures. I moved to Crete with my wife last year, and would like to share my house with visitors from abroad. I enjoy gardening, hiking and birdwatching in my free time. The property is situated on top of the mountain in Rogdia village. The nearest taverna with traditional home-made food is in the next village, Limni, 3 km away. There are shops, tavernas, and a pharmacy in Elos village, 5 km away. Three of the best Cretan beaches (Elafonisi, Falassarna, Balos/Kissamos) are within a 30-40 minutes drive in different directions. The area is good for nature walks and hikes. For example, the traditional village of Milia is about a 2-hour hike from our property. Topolia Gorge with Agia Sophia Cave is also worth exploring, 8 km away. All in all, if you want to explore many different places in Western Crete from one central and quiet location, and if you prefer nature sounds to loud music and crowds, then this location will be perfect for you. The nearest town with shopping (beach accessories, clothes, souvenirs, etc.) and beach-side tavernas is Kissamos, 20 km from the property.
