Vangelis Zaharatos 1911 at the age of 20 years comes from Kefalonia guest of Angelos Sikelianos himself to work in the reconstruction of the Villa in Sykia Xylokastro. Being a renowned carpenter on his island, he is very close to Villa Sikelianos and undertakes to exclude all the carpentry works of this marvelous house. After the completion of the works, V. Zaharatos remains in his new homeland where he builds his home, creates his family and works as a carpenter until the end of his life. The grandson gets his name, and with respect to the story and the family's name creates a completely modern and luxurious space of hospitality. The house built by the carpenter Vangelis Zacharatos is transformed into a warm and hospitable space, with an architecture that combines tradition with discreet luxury. This place could not have another name from Sugar Home, which is inseparably linked to the name of Zacharatos in the wider region.

It has a population of about 8,000 inhabitants and is one of the oldest tourist resorts in Greece. Since January 2011, it has been the seat of the Municipality of Kallikrati On the south side of the Corinthian Gulf, on the banks of the Sythras River and to the north of the mountain of Zireia (2.375m) dominates the beautiful Xylokastro, the green edge of Kostas Karyotakis, the source of the inspiration of our great poet Angelos Sikelianos. Numerous attractions are. -First of all, Pefkias -Saint Vlasios -Virgin Mary Phaneromeni -Gorge of Kallithea -Agios Gerasimos -Angelos Sikelianos Villa -Tower of Kimielbei Xylokastro can be the basis for excursions to other neighboring areas such as Ziria-Trikalochoria, Feneos-Stymphalia, Ancient Sikyona, Ancient Corinth.
