The villa is situated in the peaceful area of Margarites village. The village of Margarites is south east from Rethymnon town in the centre of the island of Crete. Located in picturesque green rolling hills, the village is well known for its pottery and attracts many visitors in the busy season. The tradition of pottery goes back many generations in this village and you will be able to find an elder to show you how the pots are hand thrown. The village which has some extraordinary architecture and lovely narrow winding streets is well worth exploring. There are also some Venetian doorways, Byzantine churches and plenty of traditional taverns and cafés to relax in and perhaps to try a Greek coffee. Margarites village also has some essential shops such as mini markets, taverns and a bakery. Another nearby living area is the town of Perama which is around 4.5 km away and it has bigger supermarkets, pharmacies, cafes, butcher and fishmonger, etc. Additionally the villa is 14 km away from Skaleta sandy beach and 11 km from Panormo sandy beach! If you are looking for privileges that only a big city can offer, then Rethymno town is 23 km away and offers unique facilities and a wide variety of entertainment. Finally, there are also opportunities for guests to explore surrounding areas such as historical monastery of Arkadi (20 km), Ancient Eleftherna and its museum (6 km), Melidoni or Zoniana Caves (9.8 km and 26 km) and Anogia village (32.5 km). Furthermore due to the village location and the topography of the area, there are many beautiful hiking paths. E4 paths start from Margarites village and reach up to Ancient Eleftherna.
