Tholos Bay Suites is a single building, just 40 meters from the beach, housing 4 apartments on a rise overlooking Tholos Beach with Mirabello Bay and the island of Psira beyond. Our property actually touches the water. A stairway at the edge of our small vineyard leads down to the end of the beach. Around the house and the pool there is an abundance of trees and flowers. We provide a quiet and peaceful atmosphere where you can relax after a hard day of sight seeing. Relax by the pool, take a stroll down to the beach or just enjoy the evening on the balcony or veranda. If you like, cook out on the grill. We live on site and are available to assist you in any possible way, without being intrusive on your privacy. We are located in the middle of Lasithi, which makes day tripping convenient with easy driving distances to Ierapetras, Agios Nikolaos, Sitia, Vai Beach, Lasithi Plateau, etc. And if hiking is to your liking, here is a great place to start. Our pool is quite large by Greek standards and because we rent only 3 apartments, it is never crowded. Most times you will have it all to yourself. Come for a visit. We'd love to share our little corner of Crete with you.
Hi, we are Manthos & Elaine. We know many of you are looking for a quiet and peaceful place to relax. We strive to provide that. During the open seasons I am busy with the property and with our dog. His name is Oscar. His job is security. But, not to worry, as he lives indoors with us. When outside he is always on leash. He loves people, a little too much, and they love him. We also have 2 outdoor cats, who have their own work detail. We have found that our guests enjoy our pets as much as we do, and visa versa. This is one reason we have a 'no pet' policy. Guest pets could create a conflict among the 'locals'. In the off season, I paint, read, crochet & make jewelry. I have also developed an interest in learning the Russian language. (We'll see how that goes.) Manthos, who I introduce as 'the gardener', IS the gardener. He thrives on caring for our trees, shrubs, flowers, herbs, grapevines & vegetable garden. But, his greatest joy is being able to present our guests with samples of what ever fruit or vegetable is in season at the time of their visit. Freshly gathered and organic. No chemicals. And if you are in the mood for conversation, he is great at that, too.
There are no big hotels or commercial developments in our area and the neighboring houses are very few with plenty of distance between them. There are 700 meters of beachfront ranging from sandy to pebbly and the water is magnificent. The gently sloping sandy bottom is just what is needed for enjoying a swim. There are also rocky areas around the coastline for snorkeling. There is a small ferry boat that can take you for a trip to some secluded beaches in the area or out to the island of Psira with its Minoan ruins. Go for short walks or hike up the mountain a short distance to visit Kavousi's Ancient Olive Tree and the archaelogical site of Azoria. Stroll through our quaint village of Kavousi, 3 km from Tholos Beach, and stop for a coffee at one of the kafeneios. There is also a supermarket, a bakery for fresh bread, a shop with traditional Cretan sweetbreads and a shop with a selection of products made from grape must. Seven km from Tholos Beach on the national road, is a nice restaurant sitting high on the hill overlooking Mirabello Bay with one of the most outstanding views across the bay, especially at sunset. Good food, reasonable prices and friendly service.
