Welcome to Agios Dimitrios of Messinia Greece, in Pogonitsa, Mani.You will find us near the picturesque fishing village of Ag. Dimitrios, in the Messinian Mani with the endless sea and the sun for a unique, relaxing holiday.
Southeastern of Agios Nikolaos is the picturesque little fishing village of Agios Dimitrios, in the place of ancient Pefno, with its rocky island. In Pefno, according to Mythology, were born in an egg, the Dioscuri, Castoras and Polydefkis were demigods, patrons of the sailors and brothers of beautiful Hellen. This egg was the result of Jupiter's love, transformed into a swan, and the beautiful Leda, daughter of Glafkos, who, in order to avoid him, had been transformed into a goose. From Pausanias it is said that in Pefno there was a kingdom with King Tindareo, father of Heresy Helen, Queen of Sparta and Clytemnestra, Queen of Mycenae.
