Villa Hiona is comprised of two houses that were built around the mid 1800s. The one house was built so the family would live in and the other house was called KARAFYLLI'S HIONA. Hiona is the name fora storage building for sponges, and the Karafylli family had its own sponge divers. Villa Hiona was the second house built on the harbour and is in the area of Viglimia, which is the oldest area of the harbour, the quietest and the nicest part of the harbour. Villa Hiona is only 5-7 minutes from the "PIATSA", the downtown of the harbour, where one can find supermarket, restaurants and gifts shops, as well as the ticket and tourist agents.
