Today, Agia Pelagia offers plenty of seaside tavernas, bars, cafes and shops. Heraklion, the capital of Crete, with plenty of shops, museums and nightlife as well as the remains of Knossos, the world-known Minoan Palace, are a few minutes away by car. If you like hiking, the nearby hills offer amazing views, as well as plenty of flora and fauna. Locations of historical and archaeological interest are also nearby, like Fodele Village, the birthplace of El Greco, Savvatiana Monastery and Melidoni Cave.
