Zaostrog, a picturesque Dalmatian village located on Makarska Riviera, is widely known for its untouched nature, delightful pebble and sand beaches, pine woods and crystal clear Adriatic Sea. Due to its mild Mediterranean climate, typical of southern Dalmatia, Zaostrog provides many opportunities for a perfect holiday, not only in summer but also during spring and autumn. But mild climate is just one of many advantages Zaostrog has to offer. Beautiful landscapes, proximity to famous cultural and religious sites, the possibilities for active holidays at sea and on the slopes of Mt Biokovo make Zaostrog ideal destination for leisure and fun.
Zaostrog is the birthplace of my grandfather. From my childhood years I have been spending summer holidays in Zaostrog, our entire family gathers here every year and my hope is you get to experience at least a little bit of paradise Zaostrog has to offer.
The geographical location and good transportation connectivity make Zaostrog excellent starting point for a number of attractive day or half day trips. Whether you are interested in natural beauties, nearby shrines, cultural and historical heritage, a visit to the islands, or in gastro delights and wine roads, this part of Dalmatia will surely exceed your expectations.
