Dushka is a cozy wooden cabin nestled in the peaceful hills of Hrvatsko zagorje, at the foot of Mount Ivanščica, within the newly established Zagorske gore Nature Park. Surrounded by forests and fresh mountain air, it offers a quiet escape from busy city life while still being easily accessible from Zagreb (about a 1-hour drive). What makes Dushka truly special is its private forest setting. Alongside the main cabin, guests also have access to a small A-frame cabin hidden deeper in the woods – a quiet, minimal retreat perfect for reading, relaxing, or simply disconnecting in nature. The main cabin features a bedroom with a queen bed and a comfortable sofa bed in the living area, making it ideal for couples or up to four guests. Guests can enjoy a fully equipped kitchen, a private terrace with forest views, air conditioning, heating, and fast WiFi. The surrounding area offers a unique mix of nature and hidden history. You can hike scenic trails across Ivanščica, discover old fortress ruins scattered along the mountain, explore the Gaveznica Volcano – one of the few preserved volcanic sites in Croatia – or visit Hrašćina, known for one of the earliest recorded meteorite falls in the world. For additional experiences, guests can visit the fairytale-like Trakošćan Castle, relax in thermal spas such as Terme Tuhelj or Aqua Vivae in Krapinske Toplice, or explore the Krapina Neanderthal Museum. Located in Northern Croatia, Dushka is also easily reachable for weekend escapes from cities like Vienna, Graz, and Ljubljana, making it a peaceful nature retreat in Central Europe. Dushka was created by Martina and Ruslan, a couple who share a love for nature, quiet places and thoughtful design. We built the cabin as a small retreat beneath Mount Ivanščica, within the Park of Nature Zagorske Gore — a place where guests can slow down, breathe fresh forest air and enjoy the peaceful hills of Zagorje.
