It is known that the monks seeked small places filled with peace and beauty for their shelter, so that they could devote themselves to their thoughts and live in peace. As early as the 15th century, they came across a small island so close to the mainland and yet separated from it where they can meditate and at the same time be close to the beautiful Romanesque - Gothic city of Trogir, whose every street exudes history. In the area of Arbanija, they built the monastery of St. Cross and settled in. Arbanija is a small place on the island of Čiovo, connected to the mainland and the city of Trogir by two bridges (new and old one). Given that it is a smaller place, you will have peace and privacy on the beaches and numerous hidden coves. There are several restaurants, cafes and shops in the village. If you miss the hustle and bustle of the city, go to Okrug or the city of Trogir. In the meantime, explore the hiking trails, forests and olive groves from which you can enjoy a fantastic view of Arbanija, Čiovo, Split, Marjan, Šolta and nearby islands.
